Hi pieanne. I also absolutely love the Harry Potter books. JK Rowling has already announced that the sixth book will be released on 16th July this year. There are tons of good websites where you can browse some information about the new book. I especially recommend you rowling's own website, which is also wonderfully done, in www.jkrowling.com or fansites such as www.mugglenet.com and for news on anything about the Potter world, check www.the-leaky-cauldron.org
Looking forward to the new Harry Potter book. Hope this helps.

Hi, Novalee - or any member...
Does anyone know whether the name mimbulus mimbulosa or something, that's Longbottom's pet plant, can be explained in any way? To me it's plainly made up, but there's a question about it in the grammar forum.
Thank you!

Mimbulus mimbletonia
The Mimulus plant is a plant with yellow flowers known and used for a long time in Germany as a therapy; therapy for Fear.
In German the Mimulus plant is called the Gefleckte Gauklerblume or Mimulus Guttatus
It is also called "Die Tapferkeitsblüte" meaning, "The Bravery Flower". The flower's "theme" being, courage, trust and confidence.
In the English speaking world the plants that form the Mimulus genus are called Monkey flowers. The name Mimulus comes from the Latin "mimus" meaning "a comic actor" or "to mime".
According to the Bach Centre, a Foundation specialising in natural healing the
"Mimulus is used as a type remedy for people who tend to be nervous, timid and shy generally. Sometimes people of this type may blush easily or stammer, and they will usually avoid social occasions and any event where they will be in the limelight. Mimulus is the remedy to encourage the quiet courage and strength that lies hidden in such people, so that they can face the everyday trials of life with steadfastness. "
I can see why Neville would love his plant so much.
One other thing about the plant's name:
Mimblewimble is a phrase that Uncle Vernon used (a nonsense word) way back in book one. He used it when he was scared of Hagrid or at least Harry thought that he murmered something that sounded like "mimblewimble".
Essentially mimblewimble means to mutter something (or stutter) . MimbleWimble is also a stuttering spell, used in dueling, that causes your opponent to mess up his or her next spell.
Does that help?
Rich

Wow,Rich! that's great! Thanks a lot!
I had googled mimbulus, and, of course, no result!
I had no idea such a plant existed, but on the other hand, it's uncharacteristic for J. Rowling to make up a word without any basis...
She's unbelievably clever with words, don't you think so? My favorite so far is the "Pensieve".
I didn't remember at all Uncle Vernon's words, but now, yes, that's true, they come back to me.
I've already ordered n°6, can't wait til July!
Are you a fan too?

I've heard film n°4 will only be released in November, at least here in France. Too bad! They could have released it for the summer holidays! :(
And now it's only 18 days before book n° 6!

I had pre-ordered n°6, and I got a message yesterday telling me it had just been sent ... 4 days before official release! With a bit of luck, I'll start reading it before anybody can buy it...
