Which sentence is correct?

1. Does Rex has a job?
2. Does Rex have a job?

My teacher said 2 is correct. But, "has" is singular and Rex is singular. Why is the answer "have"?

Thank you.

Your teacher is correct. The auxiliary verb 'do' is the inflected form here: 'Does Rex have a job?'-- 'Yes, he does have a job.'

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
