I always find the following forms of sentences in cover letters for job applications.
Having spent 3 years as analyist, I would like to join your group
Having workinged as an analyist for 3 years, I would like to join your group
what is the usage and meaning for "having" in the above sentences?
I looked at few dictionaries, but not helpful..
honestly, i am not sure whether the second sentence is correct or nor, because it is written by me No. See my edit above. You need 'having + past participle'.

These are perfect participles. Have you learned the Present Perfect tense yet?
Consider these two examples.
Having passed his driving test, Tom bought a car.
Having cooked dinner, Mary ate it.
The general idea is that the process is complete. You have the result of the process.
