Hedgehogs and porcupines are differing animals.
Hedgehogs are smaller less oh whats the word threating.
They also are REALLY cute.

Porcupines are bigger and more hurtful to others that might mess with them.

Also hedgehogs have spines but porcupines have detachable quills.

“Hi,
Today, my colleague and I talked about the two words, hedgehog and porcupine. As far as I'm concerned, they are about the same. But I need your opinions. Thanks”

Hi,

I remember you started a similar thread a couple of months ago. Smile

Please have a look at the following pages from Wikipedia and you'll see that porcupines and hedgehogs belong to different orders (they are listed in the right-hand side of the page).

West European hedgehog
Crested porcupine
North American porcupine

To get a rough idea, cats and dogs belong to the same order; differences between cats and dogs "only" start at the family level.

(Maybe Francesca could add something. Smile)

Completely different beasties - not even similar really other than the fact that both have spines.

Those in the photo for this thread are hedgehogs.

The hedgehog is not native to America, so we use a groundhog instead to forecast an early spring or long winter. Legend has it that if the groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, sees his shadow on Feb. 2, there will be 6 more weeks of winter.

Nobody pays any attention to porcupine weather predictions. And I would keep a long distance from these critters. Their quills are very painful . Smile
