have you guys ever thought of that? past the earths plates and stuff maybe thats where it is. its hotter than the sun in the middle of the earth. well just a suggestion

That's what I used to believe when I was a kid. We always talk of heaven as 'up' and hell as 'down'.

That's true, by the way. I've always stuck to the opinion the hell is somewhere there, below... under the ground... Maybe it's the underground in rush-hours?

That's normal thinking of the hell is bellow. Because the image of hell was/is hot. So where on earth it's hot? Only there!

On the scientific side, the centre of the earth is certainly very hot but not as hot as the sun!

In the Nordic tradition hell was a cold place. We can still see this in our language. If a situation is terrible in general, we call it hell, but if we want to specify that it is hot and flaming we often use the Italian word "inferno" (thanks to Dante, I suppose).
