Hello friends,
Is there anybody out here?
I've already been here for few days and haven't met even one foreigner.
I'm supposed to start teaching here in few days. Hopefully.
Do you have any suggestions how can I meet other english teachers who work here?
Thanks and all the best-
Talita.

Hi Talita, nice to meet you.
where are you from? Are you teaching English in Shijiazhuang? You teach in college or in language learning center?
I think you will have more chance to meet foreign teachers in college.
Best wishes for your work.

hey Talita,
I guess you'll be surprized to know this. I live very close to you. I'm a Chinese and I live in Beijing.
I'm not a teacher. But teaching is one of my favorite professions.
Why are you going to Shijiazhuang, not any other city in China?

Hi Talita,

I understand your feeling very well.

I am working in Dongguang (southern China). Although I can speak both Cantonese & Mandarin, sometimes I feel lonely as I have little friends here.

Sorry that I cannot help you because I have never been to Shijiazhuang before. But don't give up, Once you have found a job, you will enjoy your life very much there because Chinese respect their teachers very much. I believe you will make many Chinese friends and perhaps your students will be your Chinese teacher finally!

If you will be in Dongguang, please let me know and may be we can have a drink & chat!

Cheers.

Talita, I'm an engineer of an IT service company. But I really wish I could be a teacher someday.
I think maybe your loneliness is caused by homesick, am I right? You'll get over it soon. Once you adapt to the life in China, you'll make some friends. Chinese people are always willing to make friends with foreigners. Good luck and be happy. Smile [:)]

Talita, I have a few teacher friends. Their experiences interest me. And I love the feeling of being admired by the students.
Good luck for your teaching test tomorrow.
