Hi,
English Oral
Abortion
What are the motives
There are different motives for which women choose abortion. When the woman:
- doesn’t wants any children (yet);
- is feeling too young or too old;
- is still in school;
- is on her own;
- already has a completed family;
Also financial and family reasons are frequently involved.
Many think of a abortion when they hear of incest or rape. Nevertheless
only 0.2% of abortions are related to incest or rape.
Almost always it is due to an unplanned pregnancy
Arguments
FOR:
- The pregnant woman is boss of her own body.
- The child can be undesirable by, for example, a rape. Abortion can bring a solution then.
- Sometimes abortion can offer a solution for parents who are in a situation where they cannot keep an unwanted child. For example if the parents are in a very difficult financial situation.
- Adoption is not a very good alternative because after 9 months you must deliver the child. And for a lot of women this will be very difficult because you have to bring the child into the world and you have to suffer a lot of pain.
AGAINST:
- The woman is boss concerning her own body. But the foetus does not belong to the body of the woman. In a genetic respect, the mother and her baby are two separate individuals. - Only God should decide about life and death. - The child has done nothing that is undesirable and is entitled therefore to a life. - Adoption is a very good alternative, thus the child has still a future. - An undesired child is not necessarily an unfortunate child.
Best wishes, Clive
