I moved to romania...and i applied for a customer service job in a private american company here. And instead they gave me a job as English Grammar teacher. Ok its on thing to speak the language all your life...but to teach it...i have no clue what im doing. They all know english..its basically getting them to learn the proper sentence structure and grammar use.
if someone can help me with ideas on how to teach english grammar as a second language and how to improve the speaking to make the accent minimal...please please help.

I find working a lesson around a particular topic works well for the student and the teacher as it provides a reference point.

Pick an article or a story from a magazine, newspaper etc.

You can work on various exercises around the text.

Getting the students to read the text is a good exercise in pronunciation.I wouldn't spend too much time on reading as students tend to become bored very quickly.

You will indeed come across new vocabulary.Try to explain the meaning of the new words in English as the student will associate meaning like a native speaker would, rather than know the translation in Romanian, in this case.Students will always try to find the meaning of the word in their own language for reassurance.Concentrate on changing this habit and it will help you loads in future classes.you will have to use your imagination to explain the words ( but that's what class preparation is for).

Once the text has been fully understood, you can discuss the text directly by asking questions and you can then develop a discussion trying to incorporate the new vocab.

Trying to put this into practce can be a daunting task when faced by a group of confused faces.Preparation is the key.

One thing I quite often overlooked when I first started teaching was to keep in mind the difficultieswhich the student confronts (we may take for granted).I am not suggesting to agree with a student about how difficult it can be, but positive encouragement can go a long way.

Hope this helps.

Best of Luck.....I'm sure you'll be fineWink [;)]
