Hello,
The differences are very clear. Few and far between means "rare" e.g. Rare Roman coins like that are few and far between. The few refers to a small specific amount e.g. There weren't many people at the party, but the few that did show up all had a good time. To name but a few is used when you are specifying or identifying specific things, usually the subject of a sentence e.g. Most of my students didn't try to do more than I asked, but some of them did. Jane and Tim are good examples to name but a few.
