Hey everybody! I really need dire aid for my English. Do you guys know about Cambridge O level Examinations? I'm from Singapore, taking the examinations in 1 month's time. My English Standard is neither bad, nor good- just average. Nevertheless, the English examination is still crucial as I've to use it to enter a college of my choice.
I am tested for various components.
Paper 1- Composition. Divided into 2 parts. 1st part- free writing, in which 5 topics will be given. There will be one argumentative, one discussion, one description, one narrative/personal recount, one one-word essay (which means that a word is given as the title, and it's up to you to intepret it as anyof the text types) 2nd part is the guided writing, in which letter-writing or report writing would be tested. Points which we have to cover in the piece of writing would be given.
Paper 2- Reading Comprehension. 2 passages will be given, and we are required to answer a series of questions which test on our inferential, literal and vocabulary strength. There is also a vocabulary section in which we have to explain the meaning of each word used in the passage that is given in the section, with fewer than 7 words. There is also a summary section, in which we have to summarise about what the question asks to concentrate on.
