let's say i wanted to ask my friend when will his examination results be released, which is the proper way of asking?
1)when is your results coming out
2)when are you results coming out

is plural and thus "are" rather than "is".
If the question "form" is confusing, think of it this way, "My results are coming out in 3 days."
Or, you could say, My examination results will be released in 3 days.
As a question, When are your exam results going to be released?
In any event, I'd got with "are" as opposed to "is".
