As to  "Igmoritis" - can you give the source for this word - preferably the sentence in which it appears. It does not appear in the medical literature.

  • I don't think this is the name of a "disease". It seems to be something relating to the sinus, but as none of the online medical sites to do with the sinus and its problems seems to have heard of it, it must be either a transliteration from the Greek or a misspelling of some kind. The other references I can find are  one the CancerForums from someone in Greece, and the translation of an article on the problems encountered by divers.

It is probably some kind of sinusitis.

I think you misheard and it's sinuses.

    Where did you read:
milk thistle is given to infants that have their sinews drawn together.
    Do you have a link?

Gerard wrote of the Milk Thistle that: 'the root if borne about one doth expel melancholy and remove all diseases connected therewith. . . . My opinion is that this is the best remedy that grows against all melancholy diseases,' which was another way of saying that it had good action on the liver. He also tells us: 'Dioscorides affirmed that the seeds being drunke are a remedy for infants that have their sinews drawn together, and for those that be bitten of serpents:'   Geeked [8-|]
