I think "palpable" means "sensitive".

it literally means " touchable" often uses when describing something that is not concrete .. such as abstract nouns, e.g. emotions like anger, love, fear, hatred, joy,

it suggests that they emotion is so strong it has almost taken a physical form!

- I've also heard people say "That is palpable nonesense"

you could also have concrete things which are palpable, but I rarely hear it used that way
