Hi, mates! I'm a fresher on this forum. However, the fresher I am the bigger the help I need and ask you for! Here it is my Cover Letter for a postgraduate program. Since I'm not an english native speaker, I would like to ask for your suggestions and corrections. I fear it to be a little bit cheesy and the deadline is so close! Thank you very much, fellas.

Cheers

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to apply for the Master of Arts in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges.

I took a BA in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs in 2006 from the X University, in X. Then, I took a Master degree in Diplomatic Studies at The Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in X.

Moreover, soon after my graduation I had [also] the [great] opportunity to practise my knowledge and skills through a traineeship experience at the Permanent Mission of X to the United Nations (New York). This experience contributed to strengthen my passion for international relations issues as well as clarifying my future objectives.

Aiming at an international career within the staff of the European Union, I would welcome the opportunity to participate in the Master of Arts in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges.

I am convinced that such a programme suits my intellectual background, my research interests and my ambitious professional targets.

I am very confident that my academic CV would make [makes] me a suitable candidate for the Master of Arts in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies.

During my studies I have become very interested in the external dimension of the European integration process and the International Relations of the European Union. Attending the College of Europe in Bruges would represent an outstanding chance for me, since it would allow me to properly understand perspectives and dynamics of European foreign relations.

Indeed, the Master of Arts in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies would offer exactly the courses I am eager to learn about, within the context of one of the best educational postgraduate institution in [of] the world.

As I would like to strengthen my professional qualification and skills, I believe that the programme will enable me to pursue both my career and intellectual aspirations.

After an in-depth search among my professors and colleagues, I have come to the conclusion that the College of Europe in Bruges with its MA programme would [will] completely live up to my expectations of postgraduate studies. I am aware that the standards will be very high, and that workloads will be demanding. However, I think that I have always proven that I can cope with a huge workload and high pressure, which can be seen in my broad array of extra-curricular activities, which were, as well as my previous studies, very demanding and occupied much of my time. Furthermore, I believe that the small classes, the careful attention toward the individual student’s needs and aspirations and the excellent teaching quality will compensate my hard work.

I am convinced that my envisaged studies will provide me with a structured, systematic approach in order to understand international political, economic, social, cultural and security issues both in Europe and in the rest of the world.

As it is clearly shown in my CV, I am very keen on international relations and I am also very curious to study in different cultures and different languages as I am ambitious to learn more everyday. Indeed, my passion for travelling in diverse countries all over the world and the experience as visiting student at the University of Manchester (UK) witness my capacity [skills/aptitude] to express myself in other languages and easily adapt to new situations, strongly enhancing my confidence in living and studying abroad.

I hope that I was able to show you that I am aware of the consequences and hardships, but also the benefits and profits which your graduate programme would offer to me and I am sure that my genuine interest in other peoples, other civilisations and other ways of life would make my postgraduate studies at the College of Europe a wonderful and rewarding experience.

I therefore enclose my CV for your consideration

Sincerely Yours
