Hello! everybody,
I never heard of the following sentences and phrases which came in a movie:

(1) This here's a dandy.
(2) A staged arrest for your own protection.
(3) Puff with him.
(4) Don't make the sense God gave a mule.
(5) Just for the God damn hell of it.

“Hello! everybody,

(1) This here's a dandy. "dandy" = colloquial word for "very good" [AmE].  "This [whatever is being talked about] is a very good example"
(2) A staged arrest for your own protection.  The person is apparently being arrested, but it is not a real arrest. It is being done so that he will not be harmed by someone else.
(3) Puff with him.  Agree with him/Do what he wants
(4) Don't make the sense God gave a mule.  Very idiomatic comment:  "Whatever has happened seems to make not sense"
(5) Just for the Goddamn hell of it.  There's no reason for doing this, I just want to do it.  "Goddamn" is a general expletive with no meaning.

Hi, Feebs.
I'd never heard the 'puff' expression before.  Is it strictly British?  Isn't there another use of the word 'puff', as in a man's lack of interest in the fairer sex?

I've not met it before, but in the context of the other quotes it would seem to make sense. The "along with him" implies something must be done to keep things on an even keel. If anyone else has an alternative interpretation, I would be glad to know it.

Hi guys,
3) Puff with him.

I've never encountered this. My first reaction is that it must have been another word, simply misheard in the movie.

Well, there's this, but somehow I don't think Ben Jonson wrote the screenplay.
