Dear Madam/Sir,
I have decided to join University of X for MRes Computational Science. I have done my bachelor's degree in Computational Physics from University of the X; this degree was started in 2004 at X and was four years in duration. I have serious intentions to join X. I think that I have sufficient good reasons to be eligible for MRes Computational Science.
I want to join this programme because I have adequate knowledge about this field. I have strong background and learning capability to enhance the knowledge of computational science. Naturally it becomes my future area of research due to my educational background. Working in a sandwich environment of computation and science is really a practical thing, we not only enjoy the advance tools in computation but also we can give a boost to scientific research. Simulating the actual physical problem and seeing it on your computer and playing with the parameters is really great scientific fun. What ever you want to design you can do it and this thing makes this field valuable and practical.
I am joining computational science because it is highly research oriented practical field and have dimensions in different areas of science. CS is like an energy boost to scientific research. I firmly believe that computational approach is the future of problem solving. It will heavily affect every branch of science either it is physics, bioinformatics geosciences, weather forecasting or financial matters. So not only deep knowledge in the relevant science is required but also knowledge about computational algorithms is required.
One of the reasons to join this programme is that scientific community is heavily in need of computational scientists and it can't survive without it. This paradigm of science is offering fast and comprehensive solutions to the scientific community. If we want faster solutions with the pace of current scientific advancements we must find new horizons rather than traditional techniques. In industry numerical solutions and simulations are more and more replacing experimental techniques. In science not only theoretical study but also experiments heavily rely on computational techniques and numerical simulation. So in the current scenario computational science becomes very important. Being part of this field is worthless.
Another reason to join this programme is computational science provides cost effective and timely solutions. This fact provides a wealth of research opportunities in a short period of time and this is very precious for a researcher. While heading research projects we must rely on effective intelligent solutions. Time and economics are two major factors which can create a trouble some environment whenever a project is launched.
Now the question is why University of X? University of X is highly ranked in top 50 universities of the world and it is also among those few (I know only two) universities of the world who offer computational science research. The thing which appeals me to join X is it's highly research intensive programme with a lot of collaboration with other institutes and research labs. Computational Science section has many research groups like Virolab, X-DRIVE, BIOMINTEC, Lattice Boltzmann Research, Simulation of developmental regulatory networks etc. So there is an opportunity for me to be a part of one of these groups. That is the place where I can utilize my knowledge and skills for further research and development. Doing research master in computational science is naturally my future area of research because I already have strong background in computational science.
This programme suits me in all aspects. I think being part of this programme not only, I can make my future but also I can add some knowledge which will be very precious in the scientific community. Furthermore, this programme is also beneficial for my country as well. At the end I also believe that I am quite suitable candidate for this programme.
