here & in here

Hi,

When is used only 'here' and when with a preposition - 'in here'. Does 'in here' means inside of something?

Also with 'there' and 'in there'.

Yes, it does:

Here is a box = A box is in front of you

The box is in here = There is a box within something.

There is a box = A box is a little distance from you

Do not put the box in there = Don't put the box into that [cupboard/room/drawer]
