The best solution is to log into two sites at the same time, and compose your post on one while you're waiting for the other to go through.

If you hadn't been away so long, you would have gotten used to it gradually, like the rest of us.

“ They've really screwed up the profile section so you can only see about a day and a half of posting history.  It lists a finite number of posts, which may go back in time, but the dates only go back 24 hours. It lists the thread names, so I guess you could go to the post and check the date. ”
To my everlasting shame, I've unfairly maligned our site.  My humble apologies to Hitch et al.  I simply need to spend more time keeping up with the changes.   My bad.

New2, you've always been better at this than I am, so I'm sure you've already figured it out.  On the home page, and also on the Forums main page, above all the handsome pictures, click on the legend "Most Active Users," and you'll get a page with pictures of everybody. You can "uncheck" users with pictures only, and get the shadow people also mixed in.  Then you can click on those to go to the profiles.

Or, as I said earlier, you can use the site search engine and type in the member's name, if you happen to remember it.

I do persist in bemoaning the loss of the old postings list, however.

Thanks, Avangi. I haven't spent much time on this site recently. I'll try to get used to the new changes. Hope Hitch will improve the upload time.
