I remember when I was I child I used to love playing this game. Actually, I wouldn't be so certain I still like it today. However, I can't remember the exact words you say: " If you want me come and get me". I think that's a horrible translation.

I always thought it was the seeker who did the talking. Aren't they supposed to say "Coming, ready or not?"

The phrase is spoken by the person doing the finding after they have finished counting:
"Here I come, ready or not!"
