Can you please, check the blue parts? Thank you.

They are exposed to high levels of noise, above 100 dB. There is a danger of on-the-job accident/industrial accident in the event/case of breaking of ropes or forks for holding drilling sticks.

Hello,

Would it also be possible to say "high noise levels OF above 100dB"?

Thank you Likeguslee.

Winpoj, I don't know. Let's wait and see.

I think winpoj's suggestion is an improvement but I was waiting for Squeaky to comment. His experience is more directly relevant to on-site drilling operations.

I would assume that the ropes would only be used for changing the drilling 'sticks' but not sure and that would influence the sentence structure. Also I'm unsure whether 'sticks' and 'forks' are the correct terminology.

So having had a look at the glossary of terms used in oil-drilling, I would suggest:

They are exposed to high noise levels of above 100 dB. There is a danger of on-site accidents when the cables or tongs used for holding the drilling string break.

Thank you Alan. Where did you find the glossary?
