In the United States, it depends on where you go. The school I attend is over $28,000 per year. It is, however, a private school. I was accepted at a State University and it would have cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of $6,000 per semester ($12,000 a year). Which I thought was cheap...go figure. I guess in terms of per capita income, though, it is still a bargain to attend law school in the U.S. when compared against China (7x CDP! Yikes!).

In Italy University system, u pay on the grounds of your family making money. I'm going to explain better.
There are almost 10/12 different bands. The more your family earns the more u'll pay for university. When I was at University, I used to pay almost 800 euros (more than 800 dollars) per year and my band was about 3 or 4. So, u gotta think about those who pay more, and more.
If u have other brothers or sisters at Universisty, u pay a little bit less. But I must admit that Italian Universities are very expensive also if they're some of the most ancient in Europe as the one I attended to, that's to say "Friederick II of Sweden".
It would be great to have it for free as in other countries of Europe.

In the US it is very expensive. According to US NEWS REPORTS ranking
Top private schools cost 41,000.00 US dollars plus another 18,000 US dollars living exp. (books, rent, transp, food) PER YEAR
Average public US Law school 30,000 US dollars plus 10,000 dollars living exp. (books, rent, transp, food) PER YEAR
Of course the most prestigious the program the better. Some programs offer higher placement rates when others do not place at all you have to find jobs on your own.
You can adjust the amount of expenses by finding cheaper places to live Ex. mid-west versus coastline. Often students that live within there state get cheaper tuition. U.S. citizens that travel to a different state to go to University the tuition is double, this is for any University degree program. There are a few states that share same tuition rate. However for example you are a Florida resident and want to go to California for University. California University will cost 2X tuition for other residents. In order to become a new state resident you would have to reside in the state for a few years to be considered for instate tuition.

University education is free in Finland nowadays. When I was a university student in the late Middle Ages, I had to pay about €17 per academic year, though. CB
