As I see the world, I can’t help but feel helpless
Despair grows, life seems to be filled with hopelessness

The greed of a few means hardship for the working class

With our current President, prosperity was thing in the past

When he took office, barrel of oil was twenty five

During his two terms, we lost our national pride

We went to war to remove Saddam, so he claimed

Five years later, over three thousand soldiers slain

Trillions spent, many lives lost, what are we fighting for

Maybe with a new president, we may have a new course

But with the two candidates, I am not holding my breath

Either one becoming our leader, I’d “pray to God instead”

At the oil cartel’s mercy we suffer the gas pain enough
There isn’t a damned thing we can do to make it stop
High inflation, weak economy and mortgage to pay

Between gas and food it’s hard to deal with another day

With children to raise, bills to pay, this we all can relate

Many lost homes for mortgage they couldn’t afford to pay

Being repossessed, lenders notified them to vacate

Things won’t be getting better any time soon
Unless you are the privileged few with a silver spoon
Hillary now hopped on the Barroco’s band wagon
She lost her race, he declared people’s champion
He said “I’ll help you pay for you campaign debt”
But I need your support, I’ll make sure you won’t regret
As I watched the trio making a run for the white house
prepare for turbulent time the next 4 years, this I have no doubt
Peter, Paul and Mary had made beautiful music together
But in this presidential race, not one is better than the other
People have a lot at stake when November comes around
According to the poll, Bama should be Whitehouse bound

For those of who will vote for him with ideals and dreams

I hope you don’t regret it because the prospects look pretty dim
