No, it's an adverb too: "2. In what state or condition: How is she today?"

Then there is such a thing as a predicate adverb (in addition to predicate nouns and predicate adjectives)?
I've always thought so, and I've always wondered why the grammar books seem to restrict the possibilities after a linking verb to noun or adjective.

She is fine. (She is how?) How is she?
