If you just want to find out whether or not the cheques were issues, you can simply request statements for the specified period. Be aware that the bank will probably charge you for this! (and for their letter in rsponse to yours! They do nothing for nothing)

Dear Mr. XXX

Re: a/c no 12345678

I am enquiring re cheque nos: 1,2,3,4 issued by me in month/year. Please confirm that these cheques were in fact drawn against my account, and that monies were paid to the person whose name appeared upon the cheques.

Yrs etc.

Hi,

I was reading your post and am wondering why "upon" and not "on" as I would like to write .

Why not "... whose name appeared on the checks." A British English here, Madam?

Re: Check inquiry

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to you to request information concerning a few checks that  I issued three years ago from my account. The 3 checks in question are  ***, YYYYY, and ZZZZZZ.

Please send me a copy of each of the endorsed checks. I am not able to find these checks in my filing. Your attention to this inquiry is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Hi,

The best thing is if you try to write something and post it here. Then we can help you with comments. OK?

Best wishes, Clive
