Please see the sentence: The test applies only to the apparatus, other than a speaker, with a mass greater than 47kg.
I don't understand the phrase "other than a speaker". Does that mean that the mass of the apparatus doesn't include the speaker whether the apparatus has a speaker or not. Right?
TKS. ^_^

Thanks.

The following is the text:
19 DU Stability and mechanical hazards
Revised 19 effective July 1, 2004
Apparatus having a mass exceeding 7 kg shall have adequate stability.
In addition, the stability shall be ensured when legs or stands supplied by the manufacturer are fitted.
Compliance is checked by the tests of 19.1, and 19.2, 19.2.1 and 19.2.2.
Apparatus whose functionality requires it to be fastened in place is not required to be subjected to these
tests, and the tests in 19.2.1 and 19.2.2 apply only to:
– apparatus with a direct view CRT having a diagonal dimension of 48 cm or greater, or
apparatus, other than a speaker, with a mass greater than 47 kg, or
– apparatus, other than a speaker with a mass of 25 kg or more, having a height of 1 m or
more, or
– apparatus with a mass of 25 kg or more in combination with a supplied or recommended cart
or stand with a total height of 1 m or more.
During the tests in 19.1, 19.2 and 19.2.1, the apparatus shall not overbalance.
It's the speaker.

Thank you CalifJim and Wai Wai for your help. Now another question exists.
It said "other than A SPEAKER" not "the speakers". How to understand the "a speaker"?
If the apparatus has two speakers.

"apparatus other than a speaker" =
"any apparatus you choose, provided that the chosen apparatus is not a speaker"
They are talking about an apparatus that is not a speaker. They are not talking about an apparatus that has one , two, or any number of speakers.
Be careful about the difference between "has" and "is":
The apparatus is a speaker. The apparatus is not a speaker.
vs
The apparatus has a speaker. The apparatus does not have a speaker.
