Hmm I want to add a signature to my emails stating the reason I don't use capital letters, apostrophes or proper punctuation. I prefer to write properly but sometimes I don't have the time to type as I should. How can I put it? I can't come up with anything that sounds convincing...

ie "Apostrophes, spelling and punctuation sacrificed to fast typing"?

You had better write properly here,  this is the purpose of the forumSmile [:)]

Duifje, I'm sorry to tell you that there's no good way to say it, because it's just not a good way to write. It's like saying to someone "I was in too much in a hurry to get to the next thing to give you the time to do this properly, because what's next for me is more important than you." Although capital letters often do get sacrificed in e-mails, leaving out punctuation marks makes your writing hard for people to read what you have written. Your meaning could be hard to understand.

Barbara, who answers in American English. My housekeeping skills attest to the truth of the second law of thermodynamics: Left to themselves, things get more and more random!

Hi,

I agree with Marius. Unless you try to use your best English here, people will not be able to tell what you know (but are not bothering about because you're in a hurry and are typing informally) from what you really don't know. It is easy enough to make confusing mistakes when we are trying our best! Some of the newer learners may try to follow your examples (typo, abbreviated style, omission...) and some of the native speakers or advanced learners may think you need help.

I'll write the rest of the post as an example of what I meant by "fast typing" (which I never did in my post above):

well..lemme get this right...i dont mean to use it to apply for a job or any other serious purposes, just as a funny informal note at the end of my emails! ie mails to penfriends, bf (we have different mother tongues), friends, etc... they already know they are important to me! c'mon, u cant say ur all spelling freaks who never wrote this way! (if any of u are, then no offense meant)
i just wanted to add this line in both my mother tongue and english, its not sth exclusive from english im talking about...

-Improper spelling&punctuation end here-

A far as I know, I only asked somebody to correct the construction of the phrase, I was never discussing if it was correct or not to type/write in an improper way. I hope it's clear enough.

I suppose you can say "Please excuse any errors in my message in my haste to get my words to you that much quicker" or something like that.
