When I write songs I start with the music first, then write the words. You should probably decided what the song is about before you write them. This may take awile. Grab your guitar (or whatever you play) and sit down and put words to the music. Or, even better, jam with other people and brainstorm for lyrics. Just remember writing songs takes time.

Hi ,
you need to make sure that your lyrics have a solid meaning.
Not have the listener guessing "what are they singing about?"
Depending on the length of song as to how many choruses you have
Some songs do not have a chorus as they are perhaps ballads.. But a chorus usually seems to work better most times as they go back and emphasize your meaning.
Now you also usually need a bridge. This is when the melody changes..
Ever heard the song "Tears in heaven" by Cat Stevens?
when the bridge starts it is ..I must go on.. Notice the change in melody? That is the bridge..

After at least every second verse (if the song is long) do a turn about..written on chord charts as T/A
This is usually the last two lines of song just with music..

Most songs start the way they finish so for your intro...use the turn about.. It lets you know when to come into your song etc..
Most songs usually start and end in same key unless sang in a sub dominant chord..
Meaning: to start it may be an E but rest of song may be played for the key of A (as an example.) .Take care..Shenni Bubb
