Hi

Should it be me or myself? If me, please tell me why?

I need a strong cup of coffee to sober me up.

I need a strong cup of coffee to sober myself up.

Thanks,

Tom

Strictly speaking, it should, in my opinion, be "sober myself up". However, in casual speech people might say "sober me up". The same is true of other expressions; for example, "I need something to get me going", "I'm gonna get me some whisky", etc.

In this case you could also say "I need a strong cup of coffee to sober up."
