Hi,
In a case of such a sentence  "I wonder/was wondering whether you would go out with me", do I need a question mark at the end?

Thank you.

"I wonder/was wondering whether you would go out with me" is not a question, so no question mark is required.

"Would you go with me?" requires a question mark because it is a question.

I hope this helps.

This is my own personal preference here.  I would use the word 'if' instead of 'whether', reserving 'whether' for a case when there is a choice.  "I wonder whether I should serve fish or beef."  I may be wrong, but I believe that used to be the general rule.  Some of the others might want to add their opinions.

Yes, it helped. Thanks, Yoong Liat.

P.S. I wonder, does "Yoong Liat" mean anything? Smile [:)]

Hi Magda

'Yoong Liat' means 'forever fiery' in Mandarin.

Koh is my surname.

I had figured out the “Yoong” part. But did make out the “Liat”.

Re: whether

Both whether and if are used indiscriminately to introduce embedded yes/no questions.  The implicit choice is always 'yes' or 'no'.  I'm not aware that any other explicit choice needs to be present to sanction the use of whether.  And I don't know whether it used to be the rule.  Smile [:)]

I don't know whether/if Susan agrees with me.
We haven't decided yet whether/if we're going.
I wasn't able to find out whether/if he was right.
