Hi,

Is there an idiomatic phrase/sentence to designate someone who is very serious, motivated and hard-working ?

How would you  put it ?

Thanks

Cheyenne

This is more related to showing/having initiative to me.

------
go-getter

: an enterprising pushing often aggressive person who goes after and gets what he wants : HUSTLER <a nation of doers and go-getters -- Telford Taylor> <live wires and go-getters are ... heroes to the bulk of the people -- School & Society>

How about the "live wire" here? Didn't know about it in this sense.

If someone "pulls out all the stops" - they make a very great effort to achieve something. However, this tends to describe someone's action in a specific situation, rather than someone's character. ... Though I suppose you could describe a person as "someone who always pulls out all the stops".
