A: They are stealing the food.

B:Last time I checked the food was free.

Question: When people say 'last time I checked' did they really check or is it just an idiom?

A: Who said making cookies was difficult?

Question: Did someone really say that to A before A made the cookies? I believe it's just an idiom.
