If my memory serves me right, you were the girl who called me "shortie" ten years ago.

Hi,
Is "right" in the above optional or must it be deleted?
Besides, does the bolded part mean "If my memory doesn't betray me?"

Without true love, life is meaningless and worthless since our physical world is nothing but a dream. ~~Angliholic~~簡瑞達

Yes, your interpretation "If my memory doesn't betray me?" is correct.

You may omit "right" if you wish but I prefer it to be there. However, it is somewhat colloquial and ought to be "serves me correctly" (but that would sound very formal).
