Hi,

Mary thinks Lisa doesn't have her priorities in line and accuses her of being self-absorbed.

Does anyone know what 'her priorities in line ' means here? Thanks

Hi,

Mary thinks Lisa doesn't have her priorities in line and accuses her of being self-absorbed.

Does anyone know what 'her priorities in line ' means here? It means that Lisa does not have her priorities in order, ie she does not know what she wants to do first, second, third, etc. I'd say a more common form of this is to say 'She doesn't have her priorities lined up (properly)'.

There's also the idiomatic 'She doesn't have her ducks in a row'.Smile [:)]

Best wishes, Clive

Thank you very much for your clear explanation, Clive.

But I think the meaning here is not that she is disorganized but that she values the wrong things. Perhaps her priorities are herself, herself, and herself, instead of her family, her job, her friends, etc.

have her priorities in line

A slightly more common variation in my neck of the language is 'have her priorities straight'.
