Hi,

1: In my old school podium was always called dice. I don't think this is correct because dice don't have any closer meaning to podium. Right?

2: In a certain movie there was a small crystal screen attached to the upper side of podium. That screen was helping speaker with his speech, I mean he was able to see his written speech on that screen. That screen was almost transparent from audiences point of view. I think that movie was Dave. What do we call that screen?

It’s a difficult question for any man to answer… Whether to follow his dreams no matter what… Or to give in slowly and let life lead you where it will.

Hi,

1: In my old school podium was always called dice. I don't think this is correct because dice don't have any closer meaning to podium. Right? The word you want is spelled 'dias'.

2: In a certain movie there was a small crystal screen attached to the upper side of podium. That screen was helping speaker with his speech, I mean he was able to see his written speech on that screen. That screen was almost transparent from audiences point of view. I think that movie was Dave. What do we call that screen? I'm not sure what it's called. 'A screen' sounds OK. I'd suggest 'a prompter', because it prompts him about his next words.

Best wishes, Clive

For #2: also "a teleprompter", or "an autocue", e.g.

Good catch, Feebs11.....it isn't often one can find a mistake from Clive.

As to the other part, it might be called a 'teleprompter'.  I know there is such a thing; I'm just not sure it's exactly what the question refers to.

Hi,

But there is a lot of difference between podium and dais. Podium and dais are totally two different things.

Hi,

They can both mean a raised platform.

You might also want to look at 'lectern' in your dictionary.

Best wishes, Clive

I believe your teacher was saying, "dais".
