Hello,

"The members rallied around their leader to support her in the difficult time."

I'd like to know which is in the difficult time, the group(the situation) or the leader?
I think SHE is in the difficult time.

Cheers,

I'm trying to put my finger on what's not right about this in the first place, but "in the difficult time" just doesn't read right. I can't come up with a reason why though. Perhaps it sounds so ominous: the difficult time. Though this time of difficulty, through her challenging time...

It could be difficult only for her -- perhaps a death in the family -- or for them all -- a work related challenge. You can't tell from the sentence.
