When writing a letter, is it proper to start by writing:

This is in regard to......

or This is with regard to......

Thanks!!

OPTION 1

Dear Guest

With regard to your question of the 12th October 2004, I would advise you to start your letter with 'With regard to'.

Yours faithfully

OPTION 2

Dear Guest

RE: Your question about 'With regard to'.

You could also begin your letter like this, i.e. with a "RE:" line between the greeting and the first line of your letter.

The "RE:" line would be in bold, preferably.

Best wishes

Preferably, the "RE:" line would be bold. (If used at all, preferably should lead, not follow as an afterthought).

The best sentence would be confident: The "RE:" line would be bold.
