Hi,

why do we use "a one story building" instead of "an one story building" ?

Say 'an' when the next word is spoken with a vowel sound.

'One' sounds like it starts with a 'w' sound.

'Open' sounds like is starts with an 'oh' sound.

So, we say

a one story building

an open door
