The same question.

Direct speech: Next night = a night later. = One night later(1)
Indirect speech: the following night = the night after=the next night =a following night = a night after=a next night= a night later.= one night later (2)

Are you sure about "next night"?  I'd say "tomorrow night", and nothing else...

In the Indirect Speech, I'd use "on the following night"... A native will surely tell us whether there are other possibilities.
