Hi

Would you say that the use of "indulge in crescendo" is OK here?

[interviewer to interviewee]

Why are you indulging in crescendo? Can't we have a peaceful interview?

Thanks,

Tom

No, sorry, not at all.

Why are you raising your voice? (Though it would be a terrible idea for a person being interviewed to shout at the interviewer!)

The fact that an interviewer says it doesn't make it correct.

No matter what definition of crescendo you consider, it's not the sort of thing one "indulges in".

One more request please! Doesn't the interviewer say INDULGE IN CRESCENDO exactly at the start of 56th second?

I'm very grateful to you for your time and support.

My browser doesn't show me anything there. It is a you tube video?

I think that most of us assumed you were describing a situation where an ordinary person was being interviewed for a job, not public figures yelling at each other on CNN.  I don't know who these guys are, but they are clearly indulging in rhetoric and dramatic language.  Yes, the interviewer does say "You are indulging in crescendo."  I would not recommend it for ordinary conversation.

It sounds more like innuendo to me, not crescendo.

So, is "indulge in innuendo" a common expression amongst native speakers?
