Finally I have found an English forum and I'm extremely glad to be here.

I'm 18 and from the UK (Essex, England incase anyone should wonder), just finishing college and hopefully going to University this September to begin a three year course in English Literature and Creative Writing.

I generally enjoy writing short stories although occasionally I have little attempts at poetry too. Other than that I enjoy the small delight of discovering the origins and at times quirky connections between words.

It looks very friendly here and I am looking forward to participating in your community.

after a few hours of being here this forum confuses me. Is it a resource website for people whom have English as their second language, or is everyone using some higher unorthadox form of English that is so intellectual it defeats me?

I'm lost. I apologize if i have got the wrong idea here and wish to adjust my approach to helping people with their problems so the result is more effective (and pleasing :S ).
