Slight offtopics are harmless, I guess, because we are all humans, after all. I myself sometimes go offtopic. But everything should has its limits.

Yes, but somehow you remain a 'leader' of the thread, I reckon. Since it was you who started it. Wink [;)]

By the way, sometimes when replying a post and when I see it's impossible to avoid an offtopic, I make offtopic lines grey, so they were more unnoticeable and didn't attract too much attention.

Hello guys,

What angered me most was not that she did not apologise, but that there was a tone of derision in her letter. It is truly alarming how fast old-school manners have vanished into thin air, do you not think?

Or am I taking things  too much to heart?

We live in a cruel world where things considered ordinary by ones are absolutely unacceptable for others. I guess you got into exactly such a situation. Just be aware that you can always face that kind of reaction, and don't be very surprised if it happens. Unfortunately, not all people care about good manners.

Unfortunately, not all people care about good manners....

And unfortunately such peopple are numerous and we meet them nearly every day. I think we should be less sensitive in the cases like that.

My father used to say "Consider the source." That is, if someone you know to be rude and ill-mannered says something rude and ill-mannered, rather than being offense or thinking it has something to do with you, just realize that it's how that person is.

Barbara, who answers in American English. My housekeeping skills attest to the truth of the second law of thermodynamics: Left to themselves, things get more and more random!
