I want to pray as the Prophet (saw) did. Not the five mandatory prayers in the middle of the day.

Maybe we shall not use the holy text literally when we are where the sun don't behave "normally".

Like Sweden, underground, space, northpole etc.

I have always wondered this personally,

I am from an islamic background myself, but have never been educated in it.

The times of prayers are based on sunrise and sunset yes, and also times of ramadan based on lunar sightings.

I know that in places near the poles (does it affect you in sweden?) they can have 24hr daylight.

If you look on the general internet , you will find thousands of very busy Islam forums, with islamically knowledgable people debating many subjects and eager to answer questions.

I think they will enjoy answering that question.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, sweden is one place where the sun not act "normal", and the north parts have 24hr daylight in sommer, and 24hr darkness in winter.

I know all arabic muslims pray according to the solar clock in the south. That is about the same as their biologic clock (time to wake up and go to sleep)

But in i.e. sweden, to pray as the prohpet (saw), I must use the biologic clock. If so, I must not read the Koran literally.

In sweden I haven't found any Islam forums on the web, to answer yes or no to thatWink [;)]

hello, its me again from first post.

You will find thousands of forums I am sure!

Do not look for swedish ones, look for general ones - maybe British or American.

As you do speak perfect english.

Also,

is there no Islamic community in Sweden?

Do you not have a mosque or even a muslim group you can visit in your city?

You can ask them what rules they go by.

I know a lot of somalian people in my country, have also lived in Sweden previously.

So I should expect there to be SOME islamic prescence in Sweden at least.

oh and,

feel free to talk to me at:

Yes, thanks, I've found some forums and also Imams.

(my english is not perfect by the waySmile [:)]

But I've got an answer to my question, even if it's not exactly straight and simple.

We should not read the holy texts literally, so it's not mandatory to pray according to the sun.

How come?

The Imam says that if we are in places with "unusual" daylight time we could i.e

- pray as they do in nearest town with "normal" daylight

- use the time table of Mecka

- and some other "workarounds"

And what is that answer? It is a figurative one, not literal.

Those answers, not found in either the Koran or the Hadiths, are an interpretation of the holy texts.

Since those answers are accepted in Islam, it is hence fully accepted not to read the Koran by its exact words. Voila! (FrenchSmile [:)]

So you don't have to follow the exact text about i.e. inheritance. Just understand Islam want a fair share for everyone involved. Even the text about the paradise. It is just a way to describe an incomprehensible, incredible fantastice place.

I just wonder one thing. Why I don't hear any other muslim say this in public?

I think that if you are  praying as a formality , then u need to do it "formally", ; but yes, if you are praying "truely", then I dont think you need to follow any rules as such . The truest prayers come from deep within the heart, by evoking feelings, not by following rtiuals .
