Is this sentence wrong? How can I correct? Is "out of the assistants" wrong?

"It  was quite clear that none out of the assistants knew what to do"

The out is either redundant or a halfway measure.  Your choices are:

It  was quite clear that none of the assistants knew what to do

or, for stress:

It  was quite clear that none out of all the assistants knew what to do
