Hello everyone,

I came across a sentence below while I read a book about insects' lives.

I don't understand what it means, especially the part of "is leaps ahead of the rabbit."

Could you tell me what it means?

ex) The common aphid is leaps ahead of the rabbit when it comes to being able to reproduce fast.

   If you took one female aphid, counted her young and their young and kept counting, in just seven months she would have 100,000,000,000,000 living descendants.

Could you tell me what it means? It's an idiomatic expression. It means 'the aphid is far, far ahead of the rabbit ie is faster than the rabbit' in reproducing.

Here's another example. “Microsoft CRM 3.0 is leaps ahead of the competition.”

Right, "The common aphid is (many) leaps ahead of the rabbit, when it comes to being able to reproduce fast" means that the aphid is much, much more efficient in reproducing than the rabbit, which is commonly considered as an extremely fast lover! Wink [;)]

I was actually talking about Serbian rabbits! Smile [:)] When it comes to human reproducing, speed and efficiency is much more common in some other, nearby countries  - Albania, for example.

I guarantee that the implied sloppiness in sex has nothing to do with my countrymen!!!
