Hello,

I'm interested in the change between these sentences.

"Keep your eyes off her body."

"Keep your eyes on her mind."

In the first sentence, the meaning is clear, and the use seems appropriate. One can, after all, keep one's eyes on someone's body.

In the second sentence, however, while the meaning is clear, the use seems inappropriate. One can't keep one's eyes on someone's mind.

Is there a word to describe this problem?

Thanks very much for any help.

I don't know the exact term, but it seems to me one of pet subjects of cognitive linguistics, as CalifJim says.

But I incline to pay attention to the idiomatic usage of one's eyes on~>.
