Hi all,

Is there such thing as a white lie when you do not harm the person and a black lie when other people get harmed or hurt? Is a lie just a lie plain and simple? Have you been lied to before or are you too smart and you can detect a lie? Are you a professional liar?! Do women lie more often than men???

Please share your experiences with me!

Cheers,

Sherin.

Hi, for a start, we talk of white lies but not black lies.

I think that white lies can be a kindness at times - but at other times the truth is best.

Recently we had a mishap with the Tooth Fairy. She... "forgot" to come. So she came the next night, leaving a note explaning her delay. All of it a lie, of course. If you think about it, Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are all lies we tell our children. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Sometimes I have to lie to avoid wrangle and misunderstanding.Although I always try to avoid these kind of situations. But I must say that if a lie could save a persons life it is better to speak lie than truth.Otherwise truth is always best.

Oh yes, Grammar Geek!  I too wouldn't have it any other way.  Santa comes home every Christmas and it's a real joy to read the letters written by the kids, asking for the gifts they desire.  Their innocence, which is reflected in the way they explain what they want and why they want it, is so so heartwarming!

White lie is still a lie we must use it as wise as we can because it's like a snake poision.  Lie always distrust or discredit oneself and become short relationship at last.

In the case of Chrismas time,  sure it's a very lovely time for everybody,  I think if we tell our children that we are a Santa's representative to bring gift to them,  it would be better than lie them that Santa is coming truely.
