Hello

I heard the expression I cannot find the meaning.  That is "What's cooking?"
Is this a slang? In what situation is this used?

Thank you.

It's an American slang meaning ''what's the latest news from you?''.

Additional note: The word "slang" cannot be preceded by the particle "a"; only when used as an adjective. So you should say, "Is this slang?".
