Hi,

Is the underlined part a noun or adjective? The definition is from the Collins/Coubuild Advanced Learner's English Dictionary.

lowbrow

If you say that something is lowbrow, you mean that it is easy to understand or appreciate rather than intellectual and is therefore perhaps inferior.

'Intellectual' is an adjective here.  As a noun, the word refers to people, not things: an intellectual is someone who believes that brainpower is very important or who uses their brain to make a living.
