To what extent were the public figures represented in the Sijo tradition in some literal sense composed?

**

If we understand the sentence as, "To what extent were the public figures represented in the Sijo tradition, in some literal sense, composed?", then is this a correct sentence?

I assume that the correct sentence should be as, "To what extent did the public figures represented in the Sijo tradition in some literal sense compose?

In the last sentence that you typed, "did" sounds good, but the word "compose" needs to be past tense with a "d." on it to make it sound correct.  :)

Thanks a lot...

"To what extent did the public figures represented in the Sijo tradition in some literal sense compose?

But, in the case of "did compose", after "did", the root form, "compose" is not used?
