A job ad (or so I think) was sent through a university listserv to members of the university.
It's a position in a law firm.
I responded to it by calling them, below is the rough recap of the conversation.

"Is this ***, I saw the job ad for the position of a scientific analyst in the firm. I wonder ..."
(I got cut off)
"Oh, we don't do ads. We put the postings through the school"
..

I am curious if there is ANY difference between "ad" and "the posting" ?
Or is the HR just trying to throw me off ??

My feelng is that the HR department do not want to deal with applications over the phone, and that this was a brush-off. Send a message back asking if they are prepared to take calls about the post.
